Spring vibes from London – The best photos of 2017

Why do I love living near London?

Because every time you explore the city, you see something new. From the cotton candy coloured houses of Notting Hill to adorable walks along the canal in Apsley, the city and surrounding areas have something for everyone.

Here are my favourite photos from spring 2017 – the little moments captured by phone and edited using nothing but Instagram & Layout.

The night has fallen – London 2015

One of the most inspirational places I’ve visited for a while is the good old London. Had totally forgotten how much I admire the architecture, atmosphere and art displayed all over of this city.

New York – my favourite photographs

I got to visit New York City back in summer 2013. I was there only for a few days on my way back from NZ but was amazed at how nice the city and the people were – sure it was crowded and sure it was busy and quite overwhelming at times but all in all NY has to be one of my favourite city holiday destinations of all time! People in LA were inspirational, but NY I don’t know, it just had this strange appeal, I want to go back.

It’s 4.30am back here in Finland and I cannot sleep so I started looking through some old photos.. Oh I cannot wait to travel again! Here’s a few of my favourite photos from NY:

"The cutest sign ever"

“48h hop on hop off bus ticket turned out being a great idea! The tour guides were awesome – especially the elderly man who kept making fun of me. He wouldn’t believe I was there in the big city without parents – I’ve seriously never met anyone else with such an awesome sense of humour, the day was filled with the best unexpected stand up comedy ever. Perfect.”

"With some people it doesn't matter how long you are apart, 'cos when you see again you can keep talking as if only weeks rather than years have passed." I was super lucky to catch up with Rhea <3

And I have to say the Times Square was pretty cool at night time. Crazy amount of tourists – and thus plenty of interesting stuff, it sure is the perfect place for entertainment.

"One of the many Naked Cowboys on Times Square"

Eye for detail – close-up photography

One thing that has always fascinated me, is close-up photography. Capturing that perfect moment in detail. I’ve used Canon EOS 650D, mostly automatic settings, heh, and Photoscape editing.

Here are some of my favourites from 2013 & 2014, hope you enjoy:

The beginning of the journey

“Vaikka juuret ovat maassa, siiville voit silti nousta”

That quote has always been my favourite, something that resonated with me from the first time I saw it on a post card at my first telemarketing job – I was having trouble selling magazines to people and the quote really cheered me up, made me daydream about travelling.

Unfortunately, that quote is one those things that’s difficult to translate. Even though the roots are on the ground, you can still rise on your wings – sounds kind of silly in English. But even now, almost eight years later, I still remember that quote as one of the things that encouraged me to leave my comfort zone behind, to jump into the unknown, amazing, beautiful world we live in. To try out my wings while knowing there’s always a safe haven to return to.

This blog will be about my travels, a mix of memories portrayed through short stories and photos I’ve taken along the way. Not in a sense that I want to brag about my experiences, but rather to Inspire you to maybe follow a similar path. Leaving your beloved home country behind can sound like a scary, maybe even a pointless experience, but at the same time it’ll easily be the most eye-opening, rewarding and memorable thing you’ll ever do. Whether its a beach holiday for a week, a school exchange for a year, or employment overseas, travelling is one of those things that everyone should get to experience at some stage in their lives.

I hope you enjoy, get inspired, be entertained.

I’d love you to share your experiences as well,
